Erne’s main argument is that there’s always been animosity between the Western world and the Islamic world, and in due time the 2 might eventually go to battle and be wiped out. But why are things that way?
Erne gives several reasons:
There’s been wars between the West and Islam
There’s bad blood between Christianity(main religion of the west) and Islam
It’s easy for biased people to go on the internet and post slander
One of things that Erne goes most in depth into is the hatred between Christianity and Islam. He actually pulls out specific examples of incidents that happened between Christians and Islams to show how they contributed to the current collision paths between the 2 worlds. One example was the story of a Christian monk who helped an Islamic man who was struggling, and yet years later, was labeled by other Christians as a renegade heretic who had betrayed his religion. This shows how anti Islam the Christians were, willing to turn against one of their own for helping a person in need. Another good example is the report of slander by Christian writers against Islam. After some Christian writers heard that Muslins were not allowed to drink alcohol or eat pork, they spread some false rumors that Mohammed ( the main prophet of Islam) was killed while drunk, by pigs, or both. There’s no justifying the blatant lies that those writers spread about someone else’s god. These accounts that Erne gives really helps the reader understand the pointless hate between the two religions.
